Rem Sakakibara
After working as a 3D designer at a game company, Rem Sakakibara made a manga debut in COMIC Ryu with Monster Kinematograph, a comedy inspired by tokusatsu kaiju films, a genre of Japanese special-effects monster films. Rem has also produced numerous works based on Japan's Showa-era history (1926–1989), including Isoroku Yamamoto, Commander-in-Chief of the Combined Fleet (the manga adaptation of the film) and Kadokawa Manga Learning Series: World History, Vol. 16 (World War II). Their activities extend across various fields, including serving as an opinion leader for the Eastern Army of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force.
In recent years, Rem has mainly focused on comedy, producing works such as Restart! ~A 34-Year-Old Game Director Starting Over Strong~, a time-slip manga set in the game industry that draws on their experience as a game CG designer, and the robot comedy Kayuuma. Among these, Pen Tablet and Tank, a time-travel comedy inspired by the Battle of Nomonhan, was selected for the Jury Selections in the Manga Division of the 22nd Japan Media Arts Festival in 2019, organized by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, Japan.
Rem is currently serializing an isekai romantic comedy featuring a gyaru-style heroine, Wrong World, Ms. Nanjo!, weekly on Comic DAYS.
